Even Eyecare doctors are concerned about the added blue light exposure from smartphones and other digital devices. It might increase a person’s risk of macular degeneration later in life.
In another study of blue light, researchers at the University of Toronto compared the melatonin levels of people exposed to bright indoor light who were using blue-light-blocking goggles to people exposed to regular dim light without using goggles.
The fact that the levels of the hormone were the same in the two groups strengthens the hypothesis that blue light is a potent suppressor of melatonin.
Protect from Blue Light Effects
If you use your mobile phone or laptop all-day long then a convenient way to reduce your blue light exposure is to use a blue light filter.
These types of filters are available in almost all the electronic devices and are available wherever electronics are sold. Sometimes you may even find a built-in blue light filter in your device.
So what these Blue light filters actually do? Blue light filters reduce the amount of blue light emitted from electronic devices from reaching your eyes without affecting the visibility of the display.
If possible you can even try blue-light-blocking glasses. These special-purpose glasses reduce blue light exposure from digital devices highly.
So in this digital world, we all know that electronic devices and gadgets have become an essential source of life. But it doesn’t mean that you must have to sacrifice your eyes entirely to screen all the time.
